After reading the ticket https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=760220 I
think I know what the problem is. This Calendars access is just Busy/Free info
which I can see if I try to make an appointment. Evo does not let you subscribe 
to such Calendars(yet).
I agree with the ticket author that the Calendar function in Evo is at best confusing.

3.18.4 on both, I update Evo as soon a new version enter into the Gentoo repo
