Dirk,

thanks for trying to help me.
I decided to bite the bullet and restore a backup.
Somehow something happened with the disk problably the grub thing.
I'm pretty sure of this because when I repartitioned the evms disk and rebooted I got \
further than before.

After reading the log file, I must admit I have no idea what's going wrong. 
Maybe it's time for one of the developers to jump in :-)
