I am stoked!!!  I built my K1 8 months ago, but as a
novice operator I have only made one contact with it--
until today.  I have been working with AC7QG as part
of the FISTS Code Buddy program for the last two
weeks.  Today I went QRV with the K1 and 12v of AA
batteries.  45 min QSO before the conditions faded and
I had to hook my Icom 706 and go qro.  That was
awesome.  I have made a deal with the xyl that when I
get 100 QSOs with the K1 I can get a K2.  Thank You
