I've tested it. It runs. Furthermore gears appears to work. I've been
up less than 20 minutes however, so give it time. I'm going to start
running a 64x64 copy of gears in the corner of my desktop for the hell of
it. I'll let you know when it dies, if it dies.

The combination of your patch with CVS radeon drm, 2.4.2-ac26, and the CVS
checkout I've been using from 22 March has worked this long. gears worked
for about a minute or so - QuakeForge didn't work so well. If gears runs
okay for awhile, I'll see if I can investigate that. QuakeForge does use
Multitexture after all, and I did reply to someone reporting that they had
to use Descent 3 without it because it crashed for them.

Clearly I owe everyone on this list an apology. The Radeon chipset driver
ran without AGP DMA for about six hours without crashing. Adding this
patch has so far let me get the AGP back (for now at least) and GLX apps
don't instantly crash. I was clearly wrong about the state of the radeon
driver. I still can't recommend it to QuakeForge users because I don't
believe it's ready for that yet, but it's definitely not as bad as I was
saying it was once you get things just the way it likes them. I don't
know that I have that yet, but I guess we'll see.
