By "latest DRI port" I assume you mean you're using XFree86 4.2.0 and
drm-kmod.  There is hardware tcl support and a other updates to Radeon
support if you install DRI CVS, I'll try to get a good page up on
installing CVS on BSD again.

Doesn't look like it.  I just ran it on a 4.2.0 system, got similar
speeds.  DRI was definitely working.
