Indeed, udevd and hotplugd are the one for the base.
I've used the last snaptshot of DF-3.3.

DragonFly-i386-20130401-DEV-v3.3.0.1458.g0752f.iso.bz2

From Dports, I've just installed Xfce4 packages.
