I should be much shorter then. I would reduce to "what is DNS",
"how to install", "setting up a resolver (dnscache)"

I included stuff about setting up a server because *I* have tried to
set up a server and would have appreciated better guidance on how to
get it working.

However, I can see merit to breaking apart the "about DNS" section,
reorganizing the outline like so:

* What do I need to know about DNS?
  ** forward and reverse DNS
** the difference between a resolver and a server
* What parts of djbdns should I use?
** who would benefit from running their own resolver
** who would benefit from running their own server
* How do I install djbdns?...
* How do I set up a (local) DNS cache?...
* What do I need to know about running a DNS server?...
* How do I set up a primary DNS server for my domain?...
...

Some notes about running dnscache behind a dialup line would be good.

I agree. Does anyone have such notes?

bridge when an idolator was on it; he said, 'Satan cannot rule two nations [at
once].' Rabbi Yannai would examine [the bridge] and cross." --Shabbat 32a
