Hello Everyone -

I'm not sure if these questions and comments have been addressed on this
list before, please forgive my ignorance.

In troubleshooting some problems on a DHCP relay agent I found that Win2K
Server generates a DHCPINFORM message in an attempt to prevent rogue DHCP
servers on a Microsoft network. The message uses 'vendor specific' options
to accomplish this task. This is not a problem, but the 'chaddr' field in
these messages is always 00-00-00-00-00-00! The RFC does not indicate that
the 'chaddr' in a DHCPINFORM must be the real MAC address of the client. So
my question is... Does anyone know what the various vendors other than
Microsoft have been implementing? Thanks.

-David
