Can you show us what you saw, rather than describing it to us?   Like,
run dhclient with the -d flag, and send us the output?   Send us your
/etc/dhclient.conf file, if any?

I haven't tried either the server or the client on Tru64, so it's
eminently possible that there's a problem in there somewhere.
