i believe the feature being requested here is implemented in the patches
freebsd applies to the dhclient that's installed with their releases.

i kept meaning to go find an url over at freebsd.org to hand out,
but don't seem to be finding the time.  google for it maybe.

i don't know how hard it would be to get it to work on os/x...
