Logs edited to make 'em fit on a page nicely.

This is what happens when a RH Linux 7.2 or 8.0 machine boots:

11:20:07 dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 10.0.1.2 from 00:50:56:00:00:05 via eth0

This is what happens when a Windows 98 machine boots:

There's probably more going on here than there needs to be because I've turned
off
optimization, but the basic pattern is quite clear.

As I said originally, I think it's a client setup problem, but There might be
something
I can do on the server side as well. I sent the original question to both lists.
Let's 
see If I've set the Reply-to correctly this time...

Let's see if I can figure it out...
Boot unpatched RH 7.2 once: Same as 1st log example except for time and MAC
address.
After much experimentation, added DHCP_HOSTNAME="${HOSTNAME%%.*}" to ifcfg-eth0

That did it!

With one working, I can probably get 'em all working.
