I had the same problem .
First of all you must of got the newer version and tried to install the new one. \
Cannot do this. The message appears.
Just go and uninstall firefox and go and use find files delete anything that says \
firefox. Get rid of the Firefox download program Completly reinstall firefox. This \
cured my problem.
