I like that particular feature -- it has helped me in numerous
situations. However, it doesn't help much when X crashes the
machine, which happened to me recently after an install. (It's
fixed.) And I still haven't figured out how to get to console
mode from X. (Before someone answers, I'm not dumb, it's a
PowerBook.)
I'm still torn on the xdm by default issue. On one hand, it
would be nice to have a debconf option. On the other, it's
only a problem if things go wrong.
