-v is a typo, -d is the correct thing, e.g this
dpkg-shlibdeps /usr/bin/xine \
-dRecommends /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.1.2/xineplug_decode_vorbis.so
yields

with Recommends only containing *additional* stuff.
