Dean:
Can you put your source code for the modifications you made to the
Teradata driver in some place accessible so that I can try to model
my changes on what you have already done?
Thanks

Over the next few days I hope to have time to do the same for Oracle.
Thanks

FYI...I've implemented a driver-specific version of the
bind_param_array() in DBD::Teradata along the lines we've discussed thus
far,
and ran a quick test comparing the row-by-row bind/execute method vs.
the array-of-rows bind/execute method.
Environment:
Client: AMD 380Mhz laptop (Win98, ActiveState 5.6.0)
Server: 800 MHz PIII (WinNT 4.0)
100 Mbps Ethernet connection.
Loading 100,000 rows, 2 fields each (1 INTEGER, 1 CHAR(100)).
Total time for row-by-row bind: 102 secs
Total time for array-of-rows bind (280 rows per bind): 40 secs.
All other environmental factors were identical. So there appears to be
a definite benefit to using a bulk operation. I hope to check
bind_col_array() vs. bind_col() by next week.
Regards,
Dean Arnold
