I am running into trouble compiling DBD-Informix-0.58 on an HP-UX 10.20
system running Informix-SE 7.24. The problem I am running into is a known
problem (undefined symbol: ___eprintf). The install notes say to rebuild
perl using GCC to build the shared libraries rather the trying to use "ld".
So I am trying to rebuild perl5.004_04 using GCC instead of ld with the
command:
sh Configure -Dcc=gcc -Dld=gcc
Configure runs alright, but the make dies with the following output:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------
Running Mkbootstrap for Fcntl ()
chmod 644 Fcntl.bs
LD_RUN_PATH="" gcc -o ../../lib/auto/Fcntl/Fcntl.s1 -b
-L/usr/local/lib Fcntl.o
ld: Can't find library for -lgcc
*** Error exit code 1
Stop.
*** Error exit code 1
Stop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------
I realise this may be more of a perl compilation problem, but I thought if
someone out there rebuilt perl on an HP-UX 10.20 for the same reasons they
might be able to shed light on what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks for any assistance,
JC
