To clarify even further, you're running a non-Cygwin build of Darcs
with a Cygwin build of ssh.  Windows is Windows, and Cygwin is Cygwin,
and ne'er the twain shall meet.

(To clarify: you should either use a non-Cygwin version of ssh, or a
Cygwin build of Darcs.)
