You should look at the config.log file. For example, in my config.log
for solaris 10, I see the following:

configure:5676: checking fcntl.h usability
configure:5693: gcc -c -g -O2  conftest.c >&5
configure:5699: $? = 0
configure:5713: result: yes
configure:5717: checking fcntl.h presence
configure:5732: gcc -E  conftest.c
configure:5738: $? = 0
configure:5752: result: yes
configure:5785: checking for fcntl.h
configure:5793: result: yes
...elided...

The conftest.c file that as created to test fcntl.h
may be observed in the configure script.

My best guess is that your compiler is not properly suited for use on a
Solaris 10 system.
