For those at all even interested, RedHat 7.2 ships with curl included, and even defaults it (well, it did for me) to On for a custom-based install.

$ curl -V
curl 7.8 (i386-redhat-linux-gnu) libcurl 7.8 (OpenSSL 0.9.6b) (ipv6 enabled)
