Subject:    [cups.general] Trouble adding windows drivers through samba share

Did the following:


turn off selinux

"echo 0 > /selinux/enforce"

change /etc/selinux/config  to

"SELINUX=disabled"
1. cups

cups listens on http://127.0.0.1:631 by defualt. need to change it to \
https://printer-server:631

 generated a cert
log on the cups web page http://printer-server:631 as root, add printers.

2. samba

use "security = user" in smb.conf first.

setup a admin user for driver upload.

"smbpasswd -a root"

 "service smb restart"

 make a folder for driver load

"mkdir -p /usr/share/cups/drivers/W32X86"

3.browsed to
printer-server ( printers will show up, but do not click on them yet. )

clicked on Printers and Faxes

Right click the printer, select properties

Get "C:\Windows\explorer.exe Error: Function Address 0x4c03b365 caused a protection \
fault. (exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property pages may not be displayed".

Im sure in my newbieism ways I forgot something.
