This script comes as part of the nfs-utils package. It will not run on my system. I get the error message:
start-statd: 10: exec: 200: not found
Line 10 of the script reads:
exec 200> /var/run/rpc.statd.lock
This does look like an error to me. I think it should read:
echo 200> /var/run/rpc.statd.lock
