You can do the following: - - remove "options ide-cd ignore=hdd" from modules.conf, it's not needed - - on the kernel command line (lilo's append="" statement) use "hdX=ide-scsi" This will tell the IDE driver (which is used by the cdrom driver) to ignore that drive - and later on, the ide-scsi module can attach to the drive.
