Actually, this is a way of name an unframed line in the SDH configuration.
The connection continue to use the SDH clock (synchronous), but when it is
not using frames we use to call it "asynchronous" or unframed.

	One thing is framed/unframed and another thing is
synchronous/asynchronous.
The medium will still be synchronous even if unframed. If you run unframed,
then you can define timeslots at your will (well, they still need to be 32
of
them 64 kbps "long" each, but you can group them as you need), but you will
still be using a synchronous line on which both ends work in sync (which is
where the clock source stuff comes in) rather than syncing on each character
or so (which is what start/stop bits are for).
