This is an update to my earlier message. I now have CND 1.0 running well 
on my Compaq laptop. The Accellerated X setup requires:-

1) Selection of the /dev/psaux device to make the integrated trackball 
device work along with the PS/2 mouse type.

2) The machine reports its video chipset as Compaq/WD24a2. After some 
checking, this is directly supported under Accellerated X as the WD90C24 
(1MB).

Hope this helps any other users there are out there...
