"Auditing" is a system facility in some Unix-like operating systems (e.g.
UnixWare) in which the Operating system monitors and logs accesses to
certain system facilities. Things like file open/close can be "logged" to
an audit facility, thus creating an "audit log" which details exactly
when, and by whom, certain operations were performed. Presumably an
administrator might look at an "audit log" to discover that a user was
mis-behaving in some way. (e.g. By accessing files they shouldn't
be accessing?)

In any case, as far as I know, Linux does not currently have any
auditing facility, so the NWL help message doesn't apply to Linux.

Cheerio,
Chris
