I had basically the same idea yesterday. The direct cause was Ben Pfaff
reporting another crash bug, but we had a few of those in recent times.
IIRC, all of them had almost trivial fixes. Hence, I created [0].
(However, I did not even try building the resulting tree.)
(Also, I will not merge that one since I created it. Let's have at least
four eyes on something like that.)
Additionally, it might make sense to apply [1] and [2] to the 1.16
branch before a new release.

This can be a, a little complicated. Listen, my advice is... ask
somebody else for advice, at least someone who's... got more experience
at... giving advice.
