mdev is hardcoded for that path because it is the standard path that all Linux
tools use

you enabled the options in the busybox config right ? and the file
/lib/firmware/dvb-usb-wt220u-fc03.fw exists ?
otherwise i would upgrade to latest busybox and linux release. firmware
loading seems to be working fine for us with linux 2.6.28+ and busybox 1.13+.
