Statically compiled against what?  (glibc?  uclibc?)

The mount functionality underwent a major rewrite.  Could you try a snapshot 
of the current -devel branch and see if that can do your NFS mount?  (It's 
possible it can't, the actual NFS code was mostly left alone in the rewrite, 
but it would be a useful data point to have...)
