Hi, 
Just for info there is a patch by "Tony J. White" <tjw@webteam.net>
in Dec/2004 Mailing list archives that does about the same thing,
but is not limited to group IDs of the current process (due to the use
of getgroups) that return strange results if used with an username
as arg.

GNU  id -Gn tito
tito farmatito firebird mysql
./busybox id -Gn tito
tito root

Maybe you'll take a look at it.
