Here's a tip to avoid having to (ctrl-alt-del):

If you don't want to have to manually log into NT after every boot, you 
can disable logon by editing the following registry key (see pp. 48-49 of 
1001 Secrets for the Windows NT Registry for more details):
 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\
                 Set 'DefaultDomainName' and 'DefaultUserName' as desired
                 Create two new string entries:
                     DefaultPassword: "foo" or whatever...
                     AutoAdminLogon:  "1"
        Note: AutoAdminLogon seems to reset to "0" if you have a NULL Admin
        password.
