I am attempting to use bochs and have a ~4GB dvd iso image that I boot
from. I am using a 10GB hard disk image created (flat) with bximage.
I have set megs to 512, I am running as root with unlimited ulimits,
and the machine has 512MB of RAM and 2GB of swap.

Just to get through isolinux and load the initramfs I had to add the
following options on my isolinux command:

  nolapic noapic pci=bios clocksource=jiffies

After a long wait I get this in the bochs log file:

19871446800p[CD ] >>PANIC<< cdrom: read_block: lseek returned error.
19871446800p[CD ] >>PANIC<< cdrom: read_block: lseek returned error.

I am using bochs from CVS on 2008/03/27.

I configured like this:./configure \
   --prefix=/usr \
   --infodir=/usr/info \
   --mandir=/usr/man \
   --enable-sb16 \
   --enable-ne2000 \
   --enable-all-optimizations \
   --enable-cpu-level=6 \
   --enable-x86-64 \
   --enable-sse=2 \
   --enable-pci \
   --enable-acpi \
   --enable-clgd54xx \
   --enable-usb \
   --enable-show-ips \
   --with-x11

The line in bochsrc for the dvd iso image is:

ata1-master: type=cdrom, path="/data/bls1.1/bls1.1.001_dvd.iso", status=inserted

That iso file has a size of 4222871552 bytes.

I am using gcc 4.2.3.

Since I know the DVD image is good (I have burned it to DVD and done
installs from it on real hardware) I wonder if bochs does not support
> 650MB iso images on the cdrom= option.

The bochs does get into my initramfs and run some bash scripts before
hitting the errors listed above, so the kernel does boot, the
initramfs does get mounted. I want to make things work but I don't
know what to try next.
