Like most of you, I use BID and BID has kept little snot nosed
script-kiddie brats out of my 98 and ME systems nicely. I am now
using XP Pro - and all of a sudden I got these "IRQL not less or
equal" Blue Screen Stop Errors upon shutdown.

XP is fully patched from the Microsoft Update Service (HINT: Want
to DOWNLOAD and SAVE the Hotfixes instead of just getting them
installed? Use http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp?
corporate=true ).

The problem is with BID. Period. I remove 2.9can the Blue Screens
and mysterious reboots stop. Put 2.9can (or any other BID version)
back in, and the Blue Screens return.

As much as I hate to admit it, until a 3.0 version of BID comes out
for XP, remove BID from your XP system. In the past, NetIce hasn't
really been rigorous in their testing and this seems to be the
problem again with a poorly written driver that XP has problems
with. (Bad Drivers and Memory are the main causes of an IRQL Blue
Screen in XP).

Another HINT for you XP users - by default, WinXP reboots when
there's a critical error. You can change this setting from Control
Panel > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System
Failure. This should stem a lot of your Mysterious Reboots.

M.S.
