version: 
BitKeeper/Free version is bk-2.1.6-pre5 20020330075529 for powerpc-glibc21-linux

I have updated to version
BitKeeper/Free version is bk-3.0.1 20030115054233 for powerpc-glibc21-linux

The problem has sent away.  I guess the source (parent) tree changed to a new
version and it broke or something.
