NB:
I have a script which can be used as a pre-commit trigger script to 
auto-update a (dotted-numeric) version number. The only problem is, I'd 
like to automatically fix up merge conflicts on that file (by picking the 
higher number and incrementing _that_). Any ideas how to do that?
