You'll need a -L here.  The magic ld.so.conf (and LD_LIBRARY_PATH,
LD_RUN_PATH) searchs are only for libraries in a DT_NEEDED entry.
ie. when you specify -lfoo without -lbar, and foo.so needs bar.so
