* current tasks (long term, short term, 'task of the month', etc.)
* developers currently involved (and in the past)
* who's working on what
* progress being made (status, timeline, milestones, etc.)
* 'real time' online docs (reference manuals, search tools, wiki pages, etc.)

sourceforge provides quite a number of tools, and I think we don't need
them all (in fact, I disabled the discussion forums). Some others would
be really useful if better integrated with the rest of our home page.
For example the task manager, bug manager, etc. are interesting (at least
conceptually), but since they aren't currently mapped into the rest of the
pages users have to 'walk over' to sourceforge and look them up.

Ideally, we would have pages showing the progress that is being made,
similar to the news/screenshots. Even stuff like 'cvs commits last weeks',
and similar stuff, would be nice to show what's going on.
I really think that this kind of feedback is one of the areas where we
are lacking most. Anything that gets more people interested into actual
coding will do :)

Did you send a request to the sourceforge staff about these issues ?
They are apparently working on some better way to integrate sourceforge
project data into home pages, but you never know how long that will take,
or what priority they have assigned to that task. So a request may even
speed things up a bit.

have a look at our current docs page. That's not exactly visually appealing,
but it tells you what kind of data it presents:

* research papers (InterViews, Fresco, other)
* essays, papers, presentations from berlin folks
* docs that are kept in sync with the sources (manual, tutorial (eventually) )
* external references (books, other projects, etc.)

I strongly recommend you (or anybody else) to have a look at
http://moin.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/moin/moin/
It has got some very interesting features, and I think we might be able to
migrate our wiki to that whenever we are ready for the move to the new design
