Greetings, I am Ian Wickline, and I am a Senior Computer Science student at Millikin \
University in Decatur, Illinois. I have been assigned a wonderful project to do some \
research and compose a paper about Beowulf Clustering.

I have found quite a bit of information on the Internet about these clusters but \
still have a couple of outstanding questions. If it is possible I was hoping maybe \
you could spend a little bit of your time answering a few of them.

1. When it comes to the multiple platforms that are available for installing Beowulf \
Clusters onto (ie. Windows, Linux, MacOS, etc.) What are some of the \
advantages/disadvantages of each system? Example ideas:
- What I am trying to narrow down to is of Windows, Linux, MacOS - which one of the \
systems is the easiest to configure normally?
- Once a system is implemented, which system seems to cause the least amount of \
problems?

2. On that note, if there is a problem with a particular system, how hard is it to \
correct the problem normally? Bottom line with question #2, is there any one \
operating system which out performs any other operating systems in any ways, and why? \
Which system has the best overall performance rating and why?

3. If you currently are using a Beowulf Cluster, what is the operating system that \
you are currently using? Why did you decide do use that system? And if it is not to \
intrusive, how much money do you have invested into your cluster?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, and any further information above and beyond \
what I asked for (about Beowulf Clusters of course!) is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Ian Wickline

--note the paper is due Tuesday, September 9, 2003.

Thanks again! Please - if you know of anybody else that might be of any assistance \
to this issue, please forward this message along to them - Thanks! \
