Mosix doesn't split processes. If you star ONE process in a machine and if
that machine is already heavily loaded (or if there is another machine that's
much faster), then MOSIX will attempt to migrate the process.
If you have an application that splits up lots of processes, then this
application will take advantage of MOSIX's capabilities (without even knowing
it). Mosix will try to distribute the processes to get an even load on the
whole cluster.
You can start, for example, lots of PVM processes but restrict them to a single
node. MOSIX will take over and distribute the processes to other machines on
the network.
MOSIX is transparent, but one can develop an application explicitly to take
advantage of it by manipulating the /proc entries. MOSIX isn't a standard,
though, you won't find any RFC's about it, for example.
