International Symposium on Cloud Computing and Services for High
Performance Computing Systems
(InterCloud-HPC 2014)

CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION

As part of
The International Conference on High Performance Computing & Simulation
(HPCS
2014) http://hpcs2014.cisedu.info or  http://cisedu.us/rp/hpcs14

July 21 - July 25, 2014
The Savoia Hotel Regency
Bologna, Italy

Submission Deadline (extended): March 25, 2014

Submissions could be for full papers, short papers, poster papers, or
posters

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES

Cloud is a common metaphor for an Internet accessible infrastructure,
hiding most of the
implementation and deployment details of the system from users. Cloud
computing delivers
IT-related capabilities as services over the Internet, allowing resources
be managed and
accessed in an Internet scale. Cloud computing has been envisaged to be
one of the main-
stream powering technologies of future IT systems.

This symposium focuses on techniques, experiences, applications, and
lessons learned for
interoperable services in the cloud, particularly in the realms of high
performance
computing. For instance, HPC may be used for the construction of
mathematical models
and numerical solutions and techniques for solving scientific,
socio-scientific and engineering
problems. It often requires a huge number of computing and storage
resources to perform
large-scale analyses and experiments. Users could get access to their own
virtualized HPC
cluster in a self-service, dynamically scalable and fully configurable
environment.  Cloud
computing can address many of the aforementioned concerns. Such a
computing paradigm
shift provides a flexible high performance computing environment.

The symposium aims at providing a forum to bring together researchers and
scientists to
share and exchange cloud computing related research, technologies,
experiences, and
lessons for building various types clouds with interoperability and
coordination capabilities in
a high performance and high availability setting.

The InterCloud-HPC Symposium topics include (but are not limited
to) the following:

* Middleware Frameworks
* Cloud Architectures
* Cloud Interoperability and Federation Protocols
* Programming Models for HPC Clouds
* Semantic Web Services Definitions for Clouds
* Directory of Services for Clouds
* Management of Interoperability and Federation for Clouds
* Interoperable and Federated Cloud Security and Trust
* Cloud Interoperability and Federation Governance and Regulatory
* HPC Cloud-based Services
* QoS/SLA in Interoperable and Federated Clouds
* Converged Implementations of Clouds and Grids
* Geo-balancing in Interoperable and Federated Clouds
* Common Programming Models across Clouds
* Cloud Broker, Exchange, Arbitrage architectures
* Semantic Web for Clouds
* Cloud Protocols
* Virtualization Technologies and Techniques
* Virtualization Techniques for HPC GPU/Multicore Systems
* Management of Clouds
* Performance Evaluation and Monitoring of HPC Clouds
* Scalable Fault Resilience Techniques for HPC Clouds
* Cloud Application
* Experiences and Lessons

PAPER SUBMISSIONS

You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works on above
and other
topics related to Cloud Computing and Services for High Performance
Computing
Systems. Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously
submitted
elsewhere. For Regular papers, please submit a PDF copy of your full
manuscript,  not to
exceed 8 double-column IEEE formatted pages, and include up to 6 keywords
and an
abstract of no more than 400 words. Additional pages will be
charged additional fee. Submission should include a
cover page with authors' names, affiliation addresses, fax numbers,
phone numbers,
and all authors email addresses. Please, indicate clearly the
corresponding author(s). Short papers (up to 4 pages), poster papers and
poster (please
refer to http://hpcs2014.cisedu.info/home/posters for posters submission
details)  will also
be accepted. Please specify the type of submission you have. Please
include page
numbers on all preliminary submissions to make it easier for reviewers to
provide helpful
comments.

Submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript to the symposium paper submission
site
at  https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=intercloudhpc2014  .
Acknowledgement
will be sent within 24 hours of submission.

Only PDF files will be accepted, sent by email to the symposium organizers.
 Each paper will
receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their
originality,
relevance, significance, technical clarity and presentation. Submission
implies the
willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the
paper, if accepted.  At
least one of the authors of each accepted paper will have to register and
attend the HPCS
2014 conference to present the paper at the symposium.

Accepted papers will be published in the Conference proceedings.
 Instructions for final
manuscript format and requirements will be posted on the HPCS 2014
Conference web
site. It is our intent to have the proceedings formally published in hard
and soft copies and
be available at the time of the conference. The proceedings is projected
to be included in
the IEEE Digital Library and indexed in all major indexing services
accordingly.

If you have any questions about paper submission or the symposium, please
contact the
symposium organizers.

The hpc-announce mailing list has been setup to have a common mailing
list to share information with respect to upcoming HPC related
events. You are included in this mailing list based on your
participation or interest in a previous HPC conference or other event.

The purpose for providing a single mailing list is to allow
participants to easily identify such emails, and handle them
appropriately. Some options include:

1. If you feel that the number of such emails is too many, filter them
to less-frequently-read folders in your email client.

2. Change your subscription to a digest option
(https://lists.mcs.anl.gov/mailman/listinfo/hpc-announce) which will
consolidate emails sent that week into a single summary email.

3. Finally, if you do not wish to receive any emails from hpc-announce,
you can unsubscribe from the mailing list
(https://lists.mcs.anl.gov/mailman/listinfo/hpc-announce). Once
unsubscribed, we guarantee that you will not be added back in through
participation in a different HPC related conference or event. You will
need to send an email to hpc-announce-owner@mcs.anl.gov to be added
back on.

If you need help with any of the above, please email us at
hpc-announce-owner@mcs.anl.gov.
