Summary: Director and Storage daemon passwords or names not
the same
Description:
As per bug 0001827 I have the same problem with Linux Mint Debian Edition.
In there the resolution was "this is a packaging issue" but frustratingly that
doesnt really help diagnose the proble. What packaging issue was suspected?

Builds on all machines is 5.0.3 (with slight packaging variants) according to
dpkg

Steps to Reproduce:
Try to access the SD from a director on another machine or use the tray monitor
on the same machine to access the SD.

Additional Information:
All other SD and FD's between machines on my domain work.

Looking at the source this is the line that causes the problem in

 if (!cram_md5_respond(sd, store->password, &tls_remote_need, &compatible) ||
       !cram_md5_challenge(sd, store->password, tls_local_need, compatible)) {

src/tray-monitor/authenticate.c

so it woudl appear to be a cram-md5 problem? How does that relate to packaging?

This appears to me to be a support problem, and we not able to deal with support
issues here.

Bacula runs across a very wide variety of Linux, Unix, Mac, and Windows
machines, and they all communicate quite well with each other, so digging into
the cram_md5() code which has been functioning perfectly for 10 years now (with
no changes) doesn't make much sense. If there is a problem here it is with the
programing in the tray-monitor, but it sounds much more like a configuration
problem of getting your machine names and passwords correct.
