Well... it seems to me like you are having the same problem like me.
I have exactly the same machine like you except I have 64MB RAM. I have
heard people saying that there can be troubles if you have 32MB RAM or
less when booting. You could get problems with linload.exe when switching
to PAL-code.
I tried _all_ the milo-images I saw... and there was one, only one, milo
that worked for me. It was a milo i downloaded from:
ftp.digital.com/pub/DEC/Linux-Alpha/Miniloader/v2.0/pre-2.0.31/Avanti/
This milo was booted from the ARC and it worked propertly. I think at
least you should try that one. Otherwise you can actually use milo's from
XL. It can work too, but it didn't for me.
If you are booting from SRM you should use a milo called avanti-s. The
extension -s means it can be booted from SRM.
