Hi,

I want to share an interesting perspective that's overlooked and something=
 that the Autotools is capable of fixing:
https://media=2Eccc=2Ede/v/camp2023-57415-fantastic_build_system_failure_m=
odes_and_how_to_fix_them

All the examples in the video are a result of targets underspecifying thei=
r dependencies, but the bug is invisible due to make's timestamp-based natu=
re rebuilding lots of things, including the unspecified dependencies of the=
 target=2E

Does using autotools avoid this problem?
Are there other approaches to ensuring correctness apart from make becomin=
g stateful(like keeping track of changes in file attributes in addition to =
mtime to check if it's up to date)?
