           Summary: Better events-type system for sounds
           Product: atlantik
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: atlantik-devel@mail.kde.org
        ReportedBy: gon@gonbon.com

Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.0.5)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages

Well, as I'm implementing a system for sounds right now, I have to use some kludgy \
hacks to single out events for playing them

a couple examples:
using sscanf() to find the roll display message to play a dice-rolling sound, as \
using canroll doesn't seem to work if the player isn't you

a player is paying money or receiving money (like for rent), checking to see if the \
player has the turn, and checking the previous value of money against the new value \
(which doesn't allow me to have specific events for mortgaging, or buying or selling \
houses, as the sounds will overlap)

I'd just like to see a really simple event system, like these:
<event type="buyhouse"/>
<event type="mortgage"/>
<event type="rent"/>
<event type="paymoney"/> (like for the Poor tax card)
<event type="roll"/>

I can check whether or not a person has gone to jail fairly easily, and I realize \
that this wouldn't be the best system (or easiest to implement)

anyways, thanks for reading this anyhow
