Hi,
I am trying to install a copt of aspell on my Solaris 8 Sparc machine.
I have install pspell already and that seemed to work without
problems. So riding on that success I thought I would install aspell
at the same time, was it a foolish decision?
I am using version .12.2 of pspell and am trying to use version
.33.6.3 of aspell. These I believe are compatible.
The commands I use to configure are:
shell> CC=gcc
shell> CFLAGS=-O6
shell> CXX=gcc
shell> CXXFLAGS=-O6
shell> export CC CFLAGS CXX CXXFLAGS
shell> ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/pspell
This starts hopefully but ends in disaster:
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/nick/aspell-.33.6.3/lib/inc'
make[3]: Entering directory `/home/nick/aspell-.33.6.3/lib'
/bin/sh ../libtool --mode=link gcc -O6 -o mk-dirs_h mk-dirs_h.o
gcc -O6 -o mk-dirs_h mk-dirs_h.o
Undefined first referenced
symbol in file
cout mk-dirs_h.o
ostream::operator<<(char const *) mk-dirs_h.o
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to mk-dirs_h
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [mk-dirs_h] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/nick/aspell-.33.6.3/lib'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/nick/aspell-.33.6.3/lib'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/nick/aspell-.33.6.3'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
Does anyone know how to get over this? I have looked at the makefile
but I don't really understand it?
Thanks
Nick
