You should have installed it. I have it here:

[hvdkooij@hvdkooij hvdkooij]$ find /opt -name libaxel.so
/opt/applix/axdata/axshlib/libaxel.so

So I guess you have to check wether or not you did install, all that
should be installed, and in the proper place.
