It's not really a characteristic of any particular word processor or 
office suite.  It's pretty much completely dependent on the fonts you 
use.  I recommend trying http://www.barcode1.net to find some 
appropriate fonts to use with Applixware.  I've made many a document 
using PostNet bar codes this way.
