I'm sifting through many modperl mails, many do not provide a backtrace as
the SUPPORT doc asks for, that's okay, it can really be a pain, and not
always useful.  however, please try the new Perl-level debug tip from the
guide:

http://perl.apache.org/guide/debug.html#Getting_some_decent_debug_info_w

this will let us know where in your Perl code the core dump was triggered.
