I've just figured out why I'm seeing the funny mirror list.

Sometime recently www.apache.org and subdomains have deployed IPv6 AAAA
records.

I have native IPv6 connectivity at home and the office, so when this
happened I started getting a list of random mirrors (but not the Australian
ones).

FYI this is what I see:
http://cdn.se.id.au/miscimages/httpd-mirrors.jpg

For what it's worth, our mirror (http://apache.mirror.aussiehq.net.au) has
native IPv6 connectivity, so if you ever start doing GeoIP with IPv6... :)
