mod_deflate doesn't compress for IE with documented settings

Summary: mod_deflate doesn't compress for IE with documented
                    settings
           Product: Apache httpd-2.0
           Version: 2.0.47
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: mod_deflate
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: andreas.goetz.external@fujitsu-siemens.com

The apache2 docs suggest the following settings for mod_deflate:

 Insert filter
SetOutputFilter DEFLATE

# Netscape 4.x has some problems...
BrowserMatch ^Mozilla/4 gzip-only-text/html

# Netscape 4.06-4.08 have some more problems
BrowserMatch ^Mozilla/4\.0[678] no-gzip

# MSIE masquerades as Netscape, but it is fine
BrowserMatch \bMSIE !no-gzip !gzip-only-text/html

However, I've found that this leads to NO compression for IE(6). Changing the
last line to
BrowserMatch MSIE !no-gzip !gzip-only-text/html
works.

I'd suspect \b is not treated correctly in the regex?

Best regards,
Andreas
