am-utils 6.1 supports autofs, but currently only on solaris and linux.
However, irix is very similar to solaris -- so it shouldn't be too difficult
to get support for irix as well.  It also depends whether you require
autofs: with Amd, you can always use the nfs style (non-autofs) mounts to
get the same exact tree, but with nfs style mounts, the mounts won't be in
place as with autofs.  The nice thing with amd is that autofs support, where
available, is completely transparent -- you don't need to modify your maps
(just a one line change in /etc/amd.conf).

You might check the automount2amd script which tries to convert Sun style
maps to Amd maps.  The script doesn't support the full Sun map syntax at
this point, however.

Of course, Amd's map syntax is very different than Sun's, so the maps
entries you need will look different.  I can give you some examples related
to your actual maps if you'd like.
